About Me

Kay Whitt (Serendipity Studio) and I at Spring Quilt Market 2012

My name is Sara, and I live with my family in Chicago, Illinois. My son, William, is 5, and my daughter, Violet, is 3-1/2. I love horses, sewing, photography, reading books, Australian Shepherds, and music. The blog was named for one of my favorite Jimmy Eat World songs that I had on a cute pink 7" record. It just sounded cool with the word 'sew' in front of it. :-)

I started blogging because I love sewing, and I am really inspired by the sewing community out in blogland. My blog would not exist if it wasn't for the wonderful blog Amy Lou Who and for my partner in (fabric) crime, Kim.

This blog is mostly about sewing. I am so intrigued by sewing. I love thinking about sewing pattern instructions, shopping online for fabric, and thinking about new ways to finish projects. Sewing is like solving a puzzle to me. There are always different ways to get from point A to point B, and the fabrics you use and the way you go about making things with them are what makes each sewn item out there in the world unique.

I started designing bag sewing patterns for my blog, in late 2011. They include detailed instructions and step-by-step photos. I would like my sewing patterns to be accessible to everyone, and that is why I offer them for free. My sewing patterns are also available on Pellon Projects (I am obsessed with interfacing!). The more sewing projects you work on, the more confident you will be at sewing! I invite you to try out one of my bag patterns. They each feature different skill sets, and I hope you will be able to make a beautiful bag for yourself! I do not mind if you use my patterns to sell items on Etsy or craft fairs, but I would appreciate if you'd give me credit as the pattern designer.

I hope that my thoughts about sewing and sewing patterns will be helpful. Before I start a new project, if possible I like to read reviews about the pattern and the finished project...it helps me decide if it is something I would like to attempt or if it would work for me.

Thanks for checking out my blog! I would love to hear from you! If you are working on one of the free sewing patterns on my website and have any questions, please feel free to ask!! :-)

Happy Sewing!
