City Sampler Sew Along Finale

This post is part of the City Sampler Sew Along.

The Tula Pink City Sampler Sew Along will officially close on January 31st. We have seen so many amazing blocks these past 7 months, and I am so happy to see so many of you following along! You have plenty of time to catch up on any missed blocks or piece your quilt top. To be fair to those who have been participating, the prizes will be eligible to those who complete at least 60 blocks from the book. You can piece them in any way you wish (it doesn’t necessarily have to be a layout from the book).

Thank you to everyone that participated in the sew along…I know it was a long haul, but there are so many dedicated among you, and I think it was just fantastic at the level of participation for such a huge project! Thank you so much to my co-hosts for this event, Julie from Jaybird Quilts, Kim from My Go-Go Life, Gina from Gina Pina, and Emily from Crazy Old Ladies! You were so wonderful, and it was just beautiful seeing the fabric variations that everyone chose for their quilts!

Now it’s time to announce some prizes! As promised, Tula Pink will be choosing the Grand Prize winner and the Runner Up herself! Of course, we all worked hard, but wouldn’t it be wonderful to get some special recognition from Tula?!

I’m crazy excited that Julie was able to secure an extra-special prize for you…the Grand Prize winner will have her quilt longarmed by Angela Walters herself!! Angela wrote a beautiful post on her blog about working with Tula over the years, so you should definitely go and check it out! Could you imagine a better prize?

Not only is Angela a talented longarmer, but she is also a fabric designer for Art Gallery Fabrics and a 3-time author. I have both of her books (pictured above), Free Motion Quilting with Angela Walters and In the Studio with Angela Walters, and she has a new book coming out in June called Free Motion Quilting Workbook: Angela Walters Shows You How!

Drift by Angela Walters for Art Gallery Fabrics arrives this March. It’s full of seaside imagery and beautiful blue and coral colors.

Besides the longarm service, the Grand Prize winner will also receive this out-of-print and hard-to-find bundle of Tula Pink fabrics. It’s a great way to add to your collection of Tula Pink!

The runner-up will be receiving this great starter park from Pellon, a large box of Tula Pink spools from Aurifil thread, and a $25 gift certificate to Pink Castle Fabrics!! As you know, Pellon is definitely my go-to for batting and interfacing, and I don’t use anything but Aurifil thread on my quilts, bags, and garments!!

If you have finished your City Sampler quilt top, feel free to enter it below in the linky party so everyone can admire it! We’ll be checking back in a few weeks to see the winners as Tula has chosen them! Good luck to all!!

Because of reading all last year about the Tula Pink 100 Modern Blocks on your blog I have finally bought the book and am planning on doing the project this year. I am not putting any pressure on myself to get them all done this year and that is okay with me. I always have to have multiple projects going at the same time. Your quilt is wonderful……….really like it. I am looking forward to reading your blog posts in 2014.

I must admit I held the book in my hands and seriously considered buying it. I’m just not brave enough yet. I love seeing them and following some of the talented quilters who ARE making the blocks.

These prizes are amazing! I cant imagine having my quilt finished by Angela Walters! Figuring out the quilting has been the hardest part of this project for me.

OH. MY. GOODNESS. As if finding out entries can be just the top wasn’t enough, the idea of Angela Walters QUILTING that top?(!) I’m officially re-motivated and inspired anew. Thank you for organizing this!

    1. Quick point of clarification — does the link close at 11:59pm on the 31st, or midnight on the 30th? (Right now it’s open through January 2015 so I wanted to be sure I didn’t miss it because I can’t read the deadline right!)

Thank you, Sara, for this wonderful sew along!! I have grown so much as a quilter as a result of tackling this amazing project!! I was afraid I would be a Tula Pink drop out when I got a job in the fall, but I made it! To all those who want to make this quilt – don’t hesitate!! It was a blast! [And thanks, too, for gathering such amazing prizes, but I can’t even think about the possibility that Angela Walters could actually quilt my Sampler for me – what a dream come true for the winner!]
