I'm so excited that Sara has asked me to be a part of this amazing Sew Along. I'm Deedrie and I blog a mybricole. I made the Any Which Way quilt from Quilts from the House of Tula Pink. I can say without hesitation that it is different from any quilt top I have ever made before.
It uses a fusing technique. The only piecing is for the top is for the two background panels. The rest is scraps that are fused to the base. The arrows in Tula's book are more of a rainbow color scheme. My scrap collection wasn't really up for that so I was a bit nervous about what to do. I heard Tula on Pat Sloan's podcast talking about how she likes to see what sort of variations people can come with from her patterns, so I took that as my cue to choose my own palette.
The top fell into place in hours.
I pieced the back together in a day.
Then, silly me I decided to hand quilt it with pearl cotton. That part
took f o r e v e r.
I love the effect of all the stitches. It made all the time worth it.

Love the palette you chose! I hadn't seen that quilt from the book yet, but technique sounds very interesting. It is just hand quilted in straight lines?

I like the quilt pattern but that is a lot of fusing. Love your hand quilting. It really makes the quilt special.
