You know you love them…Echino fabrics. If you are a lover of bright colors and graphic prints, nothing compares.
Since I would love to make an Echino quilt, with many different prints, but can’t afford to buy so many different fabrics, I will be hosting an Echino 10-Square Swap. Why 10-Squares instead of charm squares, you ask? I feel like many of the Echino fabrics have nice graphics, but they are spread out along the fabric, so by cutting into 10″ x 10″ squares, everyone has more of a chance of getting a nice graphic in their squares (for fussy cutting, etc.).
So, are you interested? Here is some initial info! NOTE: I won’t officially be calling for entries until Wednesday, I’m just trying to gauge interest!
– First come, first served.
– This swap is limited to 28 total participants.
– Echino fabric only
– Each person must purchase 2 yards of the same print. Please keep in mind that most Echino fabrics cost between $16 – $18 per yard and are also heavier in weight, so postage will probably be around $5 to send to me, and $5 to send back to you. Edit: I have had a lot of internationals e-mail me, I am contemplating having the Etsy shop direct the fabric to me straightaway (that is, if you want; anyone, not just internationals) for $2 cutting fee per person. I figure $2 is a lot better than the $10 to ship to you then ship to me! What do you think about this?
– When you receive your fabric, you will be cutting it into 28 pieces. Each piece will be 10″ x 10″. You will send your squares to me, and after I’ve received everyone’s fabric, I will return to you via postage-paid envelope 28 different squares of Echino fabric. We’ll be posting to my Flickr group so no one orders the same fabric.
I’ve worked out a 20% discount on fabric from an Etsy shop. Stay tuned and please leave me a comment if you think you might like to do this…I was a little nervous about this proposal as I realize these are more expensive fabrics than most swaps!
I’m really interested and think it’s a great idea. So would you assign a print to everyone so that we all bought something different? I work in a quilt shop that has several prints I could get a discount on.
I am really interested in this swap. Will it be open internationally?
Oh you are killing me – Echino is the equivalent of about $26 per meter in the UK, so this is way out of my budget, but have fun 🙂
I’ll do it. It sounds fun and I’d love to have variety in an Echino project. — Amy

Sounds great! Not sure I’ll be able to join in since I’ll be away Weds and I’m sure there are many, many people who will want to do this. I will if it’s still open when I’m back!
That sounds like a great idea! I love that fabric too, but can’t afford too many different prints. What a great idea!
I would definitely be interested! But I am in Australia, is this open to international readers? Seems a bit of a hassle to order the fabric, get it sent to aus, send it back, then get more sent back 🙂 do you think it would be possible to order it precut from the etsy shop, have it sent directly to you, then you forward to me (I’ll still pay all cost involved, but it will be quicker and less expensive :))
Ooh, I like Kellie’s idea if you’re up for that with the international readers. If not, no biggie :o)
Tempting! I’m going to have to think about this one, keeping costs in mind. 🙂
I’d be down for that! I assume we won’t have a repeat of prints?
Yep, love the idea of paying a cutting fee 🙂 I’ll be in…
Aye, I’m up for the cutting fee too :o)
You have to ask…LOL!
I’m interested (especially in cutting fee) as I am in the UK – how would we pay from postage back from you to us?
I would really love to do this! I love the Echino prints but I haven’t bought any yet 🙁
Would love to do it esp with the discount!!
I’m thinking hard about this one too!
I want to do this. I can never get too much fabric
